“If I could give my kids any skill,

it’d be storytelling.”

-SCOTT GALLOWAY, MARKETING PROFESSOR, AUTHOR

At StoryCharged, we have a unique definition for the word “fool”:

fool
/fo͞ol/
noun

  • any leader who thinks they can rely solely on analytics, processes, or cold, Vulcan logic to create meaningful change.

If decades of behavioural research have taught us anything it’s that a human’s rational mind almost never dictates our behaviour - it merely justifies it. As Nobel Laureate Daniel Kahneman wrote in his seminal book Thinking, Fast and Slow, the rational mind is like “the supporting character of a movie who thinks they are the hero.”

What the world’s leading marketers, academics, negotiators and coaches have known for years that it is emotion and imagination that drive action, be it better performance, revenue growth, or behaviour change. And one of the single best ways to provoke and imagination is with a great story.

That’s where StoryCharged can help.

Our Services

Coaching

At StoryCharged, we believe there are no bad storytellers, only badly told stories. Let us show you how can help fix that.

Consulting

Storytelling is how you translate strategy into action. We can help you craft the right story and create the right moments in which to tell it.

Creative

We would be useless as coaches or consultants if we also weren’t great storytellers. Let us craft a story for you and find the right ways to tell it.

Chris Nelson:

Chief StoryCharger

When Chris Nelson was 16, he once came in WAY past curfew. The excuse he gave his parents as to why was so preposterous and amusing they couldn’t bring themselves to punish him. That’s when Chris knew he wanted to be a professional storyteller.

And that’s what Chris has done for the past three decades: as a journalist for CBC and CTV; a host producer on MuchMusic; an award-winning showrunner, director and writer for TV series, commercials, branded content and pro sports; and a strategist, executive coach, thought leader and senior-most creative at one of the few North American agencies dedicated to talent branding.

It’s Chris’ mission in life to help people and organizations use our natural instinct for storytelling in surprisingly strategic ways...beyond weaseling out of punishment for missing curfew.
